Skaneateles is known for its strong sense of community. With a population of just over 7,000, the village has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to get to know your neighbors. Skaneateles hosts a number of community events throughout the year, including the Skaneateles Antique and Classic Boat Show, the Skaneateles Festival, and Dickens Christmas. During Dickens Christmas, the village transforms into a Victorian-era Christmas wonderland, complete with horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, and visits from Father Christmas.


Located just 20 minutes southwest of Syracuse, which offers easy access to a wide variety of amenities. Syracuse is the fifth largest city in New York state, and offers plenty of shopping centers, museums, theaters, and restaurants. The city is also home to several colleges and universities, including Syracuse University, which is known for its strong academic programs and Division I sports teams. Skaneateles is also just a short drive away from other popular Finger Lakes destinations, such as Auburn, Geneva, and Seneca Falls. These towns offer additional opportunities for shopping, dining, and sightseeing, as well as access to the region's many wineries and breweries.
